A 5-month-old girl has suffered death at the hands of her parents both aged under 26. The young child was left with the most horrific injuries which pointed doctors to the cause of her death. Now, her parents are facing jail time. The duo named Glenn Wayne Smith, 25, and Jasmine Ellison, 23, was arrested in Houston, Texas. Their crime appears to be against a helpless infant who looked to them for protection. It is believed that these suspects watched her die on purpose before rushing to the hospital.

Tragic Death of 5-Month-Old Girl After Horrific Weekend of Abuse

Before confirming her death, the 5-month-old child now identified as Ja’nae, was vomiting profusely. She was also paralyzed. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez explained that Ja’nae went through torture before her life ended. The Sheriff claimed that the child’s bones were fractured, including her ribs, and that she had no brain activity. She was rushed to the hospital on September 29, after her parents reportedly inflicted wounds on her in their home at 1400 block of Plumwood Drive in Houston.

Court records disclosed that the pair went on with the physical abuse for four days. Even with the child sustaining severe injuries, they hesitated to get her treated. Following her review in the hospital, Ja’nae was confirmed dead on October 1. The doctors confirmed that her eventual death was caused by being shaken vehemently.

As to what awaits the arrested couple, their lawyers have refused to pass any comments to the press. But so far, Smith and Ellison are being kept in Harris County Jail. The judge initially set a bail bond for Smith at $1 million, but it was later reduced to $250,000. On the other hand, Ellison can leave the prison premises if her $150,000 bond is met.

ABC7 Chicago reported that Ellison’s lawyer told the court that his client had visited the hospital with Ja’nae. The attorney maintained that the doctors told her to return with the child if her condition got worse.
