Chris Lorenzo Reveals Details of Irv Gotti’s Death

Chris Lorenzo has come out with more details about his younger brother, Irv Gotti’s death. Lorenzo revealed that the Murder Inc. Records co-founder managed his diabetes poorly, and this led to his untimely passing. Lorenzo shared that Gotti didn’t get a diagnosis early, as he was diagnosed in his “late 40s,” because he avoided doctors, which impacted the disease’s progression. According to the older sibling, Gotti was playing poker and eating Chinese food the night he suffered a “massive hemorrhagic stroke.”

Irv Gotti Struggled With Diagnosis Before Death

Irv Gotti’s death on February 5, while not unexpected, shocked many. The record producer’s friend, Russell Simmons, had alerted the internet the day before he passed that Gotti was on life support, and his family had gathered to say bye. Gotti died after a stroke, which was linked to his diabetes. According to the records founder himself, he didn’t manage his health well, including avoiding the use of his insulin. His health problems were compounded by his fear and avoidance of hospitals and doctors.

Additionally, after Gotti found out about his diabetes, he found it difficult to accept the diagnosis.

“He didn’t believe it,” Lorenzo told Hasperin.

He also shared that his brother refused to watch his diet. Meanwhile, Gotti confirmed this when he was alive as he was open about his health issues. However, he had promised to be more careful, something he never successfully did. Lorenzo shed light on this during his interview and disclosed that his brother wanted to live life and go on his terms.

Damon Dash Comments About Having Diabetes

Meanwhile, Dame Dash was also on the podcast with Halperin and Lorenzo. He opened up about his diabetes during the conversation and revealed that he was diagnosed at 15. Dash revealed that he thought he had AIDS because he was “feeling thirsty and losing weight” and “thought it was something [he] wouldn’t be able to beat.” However, his fears were dispelled after he got a test done. Knowing that he was just diabetes and not AIDS meant that he could just “take a needle,” and it made him grateful for life.
