Jazmine Cheaves is back in the news, and this time, for her beef with Sierra Gates. The hair salon owner took to Instagram on Monday, June 2, to blast Gates for copying her. Cheaves accused Gates of copying more than one idea from her and called the reality TV star a choice word. Jazmine Cheaves and Sierra Gates both run food businesses.
Jazmine Cheaves Accuses Sierra Gates of Copying Her
Jazmine Cheaves was on Instagram yesterday, accusing Sierra Gates of copying her business idea. According to Cheaves, it wasn’t the latter’s first time doing this. She took the gist to her Instagram Stories, where she blasted the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta reality star. Cheaves wrote in one of her posts, per Onsite!:
“Y’all love copying a b**ch !!! Now u wanna come out with keychain seasonings. [Laughter emojis].” Cheaves continued, “Sierra please !!!! This not ur first time doing this.” She concluded, saying that Gates was giving off “obsessed” energy.
The lash technician made a second post where she continued to criticize Gates for what she regarded as intellectual theft. She said Gates liked to “act like she just so original.” Jazmine Cheaves said she launched her keychain seasoning 2 months ago, and Sierra Gates suddenly had hers on the way as well. “I took a break with my cooking… came back $ you copying again,” she alleged.
Jazmine Cheaves Calls Sierra Gates Unoriginal
In a third post, Jazmine Cheaves berated Gates. She said the latter was “never original,” calling her a “Monkey see monkey do a** h*!” The latter expression is a reference to the idiom “See monkey wanna be seen,” or the common “Monkey see, monkey do.” The idiom is used to knock someone who copies others without understanding the underlying principle behind their innovation or idea. “See monkey wanna be seen” also refers to a hidden desire to be noticed or accepted in certain circles.
Meanwhile, Jazmine Cheaves and Sierra Gates both run food businesses. Gates runs Ghetto Girlz Eat, a popular seasoning and food recipe business, while Cheaves Look In Ameerah Cookware. She sells cookbooks and seasonings and first launched her keychain seasonings in March, as seen on the business’s Instagram page.
Netizens React To Jazmine Cheaves and Sierra Gates’ Drama
Fans reacted online after catching wind of Jazmine Cheaves’ posts. They reminded Cheaves that she hadn’t invented the keychain seasoning, as it had been around for a while. Some also reminded her that the purpose of influencing is to give others ideas. Someone said, “Girl what!!!! I follow many ppl around the US who have seasoning key chains WAYYYY before y’all calm down.” A second person commented, “I mean that comes with being an “influencer.” You influenced others love, that’s a win.”
Meanwhile, a few people were surprised and noted that they were not aware of Cheaves’ food business. Someone said, “Nobody even knew jasmine cooked be for real.”
However, Jazmine also had a few supporters who agreed that Sierra Gates copied her ideas. A fan commented, “Tbh sierra was copying the girl yes others have done it but her rollouts be right after jazz. She tried the infused seasoning now the keychain I follow both so I know and I’m not arguing about it either.”
Jazmine Cheaves and Sierra Gates’ drama highlights a deeper resentment that Cheaves has long harbored. Hopefully, the fight doesn’t become more complicated, and maybe the duo might even start sharing ideas.
