According to court documents, the six-time NBA All-Star and his baby mama went through mediation, but it was unsuccessful as Nowak refused to change her decision. Hence, Butler filed a motion requesting relief from their custody agreement.

He and Nowak will also have joint custody of their kids. Jimmy Butler Refuses Baby Mama’s Request
Jimmy Butler filed for a court hearing to challenge Kaitlin Nowak’s assumption that the children still need a nanny. He reasoned that all of their children will be in school this year. Therefore, Nowak can handle their care alone. He also claimed that his former lover is “unemployed and refuses to seek employment.” Daily Mail obtained records of the court filing, which read:
“It must be pointed out that the Father and Mother were never married. Mother is not entitled to live as if she is married to a National Basketball Association (NBA) player.”
Butler’s lawyers warned that if Nowak insisted she couldn’t afford the nanny fee from the amount she was receiving, they would seek to appoint an independent mediator. They said:
“If the Mother is claiming that she cannot afford a nanny despite the child support she receives (which exceeds even the maximum that these children possibly could need), Father is entitled to an accounting of Mother’s use of the funds and, potentially, for the appointment of a guardian ad litem to oversee the expenditures.”
Jimmy Butler Wants An Account Of Expenses
Based on Jimmy Butler’s net worth and current earnings, he can afford the extra money his baby mama is asking for. He is in the penultimate year of a four-year contract, raking in $189 million. However, Butler believes the child support payments may not have been properly appropriated. Some criticism surrounding Nowak is her lavish lifestyle despite not being employed or having an alternate source of income from the child support payments. Brain Karpf, Butler’s attorney, echoed similar sentiments. He said about Jimmy Butler’s baby mama:
“Child support is intended for the benefit of the children and only the children. There is no justification of additional expenses here.”
Karpf also said Butler was a “good dad who remains committed to the care and well-being of his children.” He also demanded an explanation of how Nowak had spent the money she had received. In the meantime, the five-time All-NBA Team member is under suspension for seven games for detrimental conduct that could affect his team.
Kaitlin Nowak Reacts To Criticism
Since the news about Jimmy Butler’s baby mama’s request spread, fans have criticized the duo. Although the professional basketball player has yet to respond, Nowak has answered critics. She posted on her Instagram stories that she responded to naysayers who called her out for flying a private jet on Butler’s money. It read:
