Jordan Adetunji Shares Reason For Stage Name

Jordan Adetunji is not ready to change his stage name. The Grammy-nominated singer was with Dotty of The Dotty Show this week when he branched into discussing his moniker. He told Dotty that he kept his last name because he was proud of his roots.

“I kept the name for a reason cause I remember when I first came into the game, everyone was telling me, ‘Oh, you need to change your surname. It doesn’t sound like an artist’s name,'” he recollected.

Adetunji replied:

“And I was like, ‘Why can Justin Bieber keep his?’ I’m a big fan of Justin Bieber so I was just like that’s kind of why I was like, let me keep my name. I’m gonna wear my second name with pride. I’m proud to be Nigerian.”

Adetunji also said keeping his last name as his stage name would compel people to pronounce it properly.

“Why am I gonna hide it? Because you can’t pronounce it? You’re gonna learn how to pronounce it mate. That’s how I see it. People gonna have to learn and just adapt.” he said.
