Kandi Burruss And Todd Tucker Sued Over Restaurant
Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker’s landlord, Montego Pacific Inc., hit them with a lawsuit filed in Fulton County. The suit alleges that the RHOA star owes unpaid rent totaling $154,139.17, $56,000 for property repairs, and a 10% overhead fee. The other charges incurred came from the couple’s failure to maintain the property under the terms of their lease. Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker opened their Blaze & Steak seafood restaurant along Cascade Road in Southwest Atlanta in 2020.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker’s lease specifies that they must perform all maintenance. They are also responsible for funding all repairs to the building’s premises, which must be reimbursed with an additional 10% overhead charge if their landlord covers the cost. Montego claimed that Burruss breached her lease and will incur an extra $12,000 monthly in interest until the back rent is settled.
Kandi Burruss And Todd Tucker’s Restaurant Troubles
Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker have a second restaurant that serves Southern comfort food in Castleberry Hill called Lady Gang. They opened it in 2017. Meanwhile, the couple has faced multiple troubles with Blaze & Steak Seafood for some time. A Health inspector had a problem with the kitchen four years ago, giving the restaurant a score of 55. The score came from issues like pink organic residue in ice makers and a Chick-fil-A cup in the wrong location.
The health inspector also observed an employee switching from raw seafood to ready-to-eat foods without washing their hands. Although the restaurant shut down to address the issues, it opened two days later. Meanwhile, it appeared they worked on the problems. Records from the Georgia Department of Public Health showed their most recent score in late 2023 was 93. Meanwhile, a complaint also indicates that Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker owe rent on the restaurant building until March.
Kandi Burruss’ Restaurant May Be Non-Operational
According to a billing statement included in the complaint, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker owe about $70,000 for repairs. The bill comes from two restoration companies charging them for work done between September and October. One invoice is $29,235; another is $17,390 for repairs following microbial remediation in the kitchen and prep area. Other invoices, including one from July 2024, claim that the couple owes $24,580 and $4,734 for restoration and remodeling for repairs related to water damage.
Meanwhile, it is not clear whether the restaurant is still functional. Its social media accounts have not been updated for months and display different hours from Yelp. Reservations also appear unavailable. The complaint doesn’t specify whether Blaze is still open, either. However, the restaurant has no sign indicating it has closed. A reporter also spotted signs of occupation, with unfurled napkins on the table and a Starbucks cup on the bar. Nevertheless, the dirty windows told a different story.
Fans wonder how Kandi Burruss has unpaid rent, given how much attention she pays to her financial responsibilities. In the meantime, Montego specified in their lawsuit that the couple had 10 days to pay. This allows them to avoid liability, including paying their landlord’s attorney’s fees and other litigation expenses. Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker have not commented on the litigation.
