Kanye West is still mad at Adidas and has again criticized the popular sportswear brand. The rapper took to his Instagram account to accuse the giant brand of trying to suppress his brand. He also targeted his former business partner, Jerry Lorenzo, who he accused of stealing his designs, and called out others he tagged as fake friends. The College Dropout rapper is famous for his controversial remarks and tirades, so it wasn’t surprising to many to see him attack Adidas.
Kanye West Attacks Adidas
Kanye West shared his thoughts on Instagram, explaining his grievances with Adidas and others in a lengthy post. The rapper and Adidas have been fighting a long-running battle since the brand stopped collaborating with him. For West, the struggle is far from over, as he didn’t hesitate to drag the German brand publicly for allegedly trying to hold him back.
“When you google Yeezy.com the adidas site comes before the Yeezy site Members at adidas Stop doing this Stop doing your moves to hold me back,” he started.
“Our partnership is done You’re a 60 billion dollar company that froze my accounts Now I’m back on my feet (no pun intended) and I’m not going to stand for this (no pun again). I did phenomenal work for you guys and because I stood up for myself yall tried to intimidate and oppress me everyone remembers I had major issues with adidas because of design theft and oppression before “‘ the tweet,'” he added, referring to the antisemitic tweet that ended his partnership Adidas in 2022.
Kanye West Calls Jerry Lorenzo “Disloyal”
Besides Adidas, Kanye West also had a few choice words for Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo. He said his former business partner was “disloyal” despite his effort to show up for the designer.
“Yall know Jerry was corny and disloyal for doing work with adidas after the way they handled things,” he wrote. “I still showed up to his show that was a copy of my Hollywood bowl show being the so called bigger man but I’m never doing that again for no one It’s Yeezy over everything.”
West also dragged some people, who he claimed tried to use him by pretending to be his friend. He said they wanted a payout and approached him with their “agendas.
“Now they banished NO MORE HUGS Yeezy over everything I’m not here as a platform for anyone else I am here to dominate as I always have The Yeezy $20 dollar price is burning the game to the ground leaving only Yeezy left Everyone knows the costs in luxury fashion are way marked up I should have never even wore those Prada glasses,” he lamented.
Kanye West Claims Adidas Can’t Stop Him
West ended his lengthy post by recounting his success last year and talking about believing in himself after ending his partnership with Adidas.
“The Yeezy.com site made 100 million dollars last year, and that was with it only being up for 6 months,” he revealed. I took the site down for 6th months to get control over my Shopify accounts.”
“People wanted to make me believe that I couldn’t do this on my own We sold over a million pairs of pods and I’ve been working on ten other styles for the past 2 years It’s Yeezy for the people Everything else was in the way If there are grammatical errors as always rewrite in the comments and I will update Thank you,” he concluded.
Kanye West and Adidas Have Settled Legal Disputes
Despite Kanye West’s long, windy post about the sportswear brand, he and the sportswear giant settled their lengthy court dispute out of court in October.
“Both parties said we don’t need to fight anymore and withdrew all the claims,” CEO Bjørn Gulden said on a conference call at the time, per Reuters. “The agreement didn’t include any payments. No one owes anybody anything anymore. So whatever was is history.”
He also revealed that the remaining Yeezy stock should be sold by 2025. Meanwhile, West still refuses to acknowledge his anti-semitism or that the term exists but has apologized to those offended. The Yeezy brand founder disclosed early last year that he was very close to going bankrupt after Adidas terminated their partnership.
“I’m gonna be honest with y’all: I was two months from going bankrupt, really… And we survived. We survived through the cancellation,” he said. However, he doubled down on his statements and insisted, “Some of the stuff I was saying was true.”
In the meantime, Adidas and Lorenzo are yet to respond to Kanye West’s allegations, and whether the entrepreneur’s claims are factual or spurious remains to be seen.
