18-year-old Kianmehr Shirinipaziziba from McLean, Virginia, has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting a man whom he claimed was attacking his car, according to court records cited by NBC Washington.
The incident occurred Friday night near a shopping center in Herndon. Herndon Police responded to reports of a disorderly male around 9:40 p.m. Shortly afterward, Shirinipaziziba called the police, saying he had shot someone.
The victim, 39-year-old Jason Hann, was transported to a local hospital but later died from his injuries. Police say Shirinipaziziba remained at the scene and was taken into custody without resistance.
Court documents reveal that the teen told officers Hann suddenly approached and began kicking his Tesla. He also claimed Hann reached toward his waistband, prompting him to retrieve his Glock 27 handgun and fire a single round, striking Hann.
Authorities have not confirmed whether Hann was armed, and there is no word yet on eyewitness accounts. The Herndon Police Department has stated Kianmehr Shirinipaziziba is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Detention Center. The case has drawn attention due to its unusual circumstances and is under further investigation. Further developments on the case will be made known to the public.
