A knife-wielding madwoman brutally murdered a postal worker in a Harlem deli this week, as reported by the NY Post.

The individual has been named as Jaia Cruz, a 24-year-old transgender woman. Cruz is reportedly responsible for the death of Ray Hodges, a USPS employee and father of two. She is now facing murder charges for the killing of Hodges on Thursday.

The 36-year-old postal worker stopped at Joe’s Deli Grocery on 168 Lenox Ave. to grab lunch when he got into a heated argument with Cruz while waiting in line, bodega employees told The Post. Cruz quickly lost her temper, spat in Hodges’ face, and stabbed him in the stomach, according to police. He was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities revealed.

Prior to this horrific incident, Cruz had a criminal history with five arrests, including one in July 2020 for brandishing an open box cutter at a person in Midtown West while shouting,

“I’m going to cut him,”

according to police sources. When officers instructed the aggressive Cruz to lie on the ground, she refused and was subsequently arrested for resisting arrest. Just two weeks later, she was apprehended again for a robbery involving a knife.
