In a troubling incident in Brooklyn, two good Samaritans, aged 26 and 29, were stabbed after helping a woman who felt threatened by a stranger, according to the New York City Police Department. The event unfolded early Saturday around 1 a.m. near Coney Island Avenue and Cortelyou Road.
The woman, who spoke anonymously to CBS News New York reporter Adi Guajardo. According to the woman, she was being followed and asked the men to escort her home in Kensington. Grateful for their help, she said, “They practically saved me.”
About 30 minutes later, the same men learned another woman was allegedly being trailed by the same suspect on Ocean Parkway. When they intervened, the suspect attacked. He stabbed the younger man in the chest and shoulder and slashed the older man above the eye.
The two stabbed good Samaritans were treated at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. The woman expressed heartbreak over their injuries, hoping to thank them in person. The attack has rattled the community.
A local, Elyse, called it “horrifying,” lamenting the harm to those who stepped up to help.
