A Long Island man accused of damaging nearly a dozen NYPD vehicles outside the city’s newest precinct was arrested after allegedly trying to back his car into officers trailing him, according to police and prosecutors per the NY Post.
Christian Genwright, 22, of Valley Stream, is accused of vandalizing five marked and six unmarked vehicles near the 116th Precinct on North Conduit Avenue in Rosedale around 11:20 p.m. Monday, then driving off in a luxury car, police said.
Investigators say he slashed the tires on seven cars with a knife and smashed the windshields of four others with a hammer. One vehicle’s airbag deployed, and its driver’s side mirror was damaged.
Officers later spotted the silver Lexus on 244th Street around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday. When they tried to stop it, Genwright allegedly reversed toward their cruiser before being arrested.
He was charged with reckless endangerment, multiple counts of criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and weapon possession, police said.
