In a distressing incident at Rollins Place Elementary School in Zachary, Louisiana, a 6-year-old girl with a known dairy allergy was allegedly forced to clean up her own feces after consuming milk provided by the school, leading to a severe allergic reaction.

The child’s mother, Jamisha Augustine, stated that she had informed the school of her daughter’s dairy allergy at the beginning of the academic year, providing all necessary medical documentation, WSAZ reports.

Despite this, her daughter was given milk during breakfast, which led to immediate illness. When the child requested to use the restroom, her teacher reportedly denied the request, citing excessive bathroom visits. This denial resulted in the child defecating on herself in the classroom.

Augustine recounted a conversation with a school administrator regarding the incident: “I said, what was the point of making her clean that up? Do y’all have janitors?”

The administrator allegedly responded that while janitors were available, the child needed “a form of discipline” and that “there are consequences behind the things that she does.” Augustine expressed her outrage: “You send a janitor in with the proper equipment. But a six-year-old kid—you are going to make them clean up poop without gloves? It’s disgraceful and should not have gone on in our school.”

In response to the incident, Zachary Community Schools Superintendent #BenNecaise acknowledged the mishandling of the situation.

Despite the school’s actions, Augustine remains dissatisfied, emphasizing the lasting impact on her daughter: “It should not have happened.”
