A man is disheartened with the reaction he got after trying to be a good Samaritan backfired. In a post on Reddit’s “Mildly Infuriating” forum, he shared that he recently discovered a lost wallet and successfully returned it to its “rightful owner.”

Although all contents were returned, including $200 in cash, he was still met with anger. The owner yelled at him, claiming there was more money in the wallet and accusing him of theft.

Further detailing that there “were also bank cards, a driver’s license and a business card” inside the wallet. “Which was how I was able to find him,” the man said. “It felt like such a slap in the face to be called a thief after going out of my way to return his wallet,” he continued.

“I asked him why I would return the rest of it if I stole some of it, but he wouldn’t listen, so I walked away,” the man added of his interaction with the owner. “I wasn’t even expecting anything in return. I was just trying to do the right thing,” he wrote.
