A driver in Queens became angry about a ticket, hit a traffic officer, and took his ticket machine in a daytime dispute, police said. The 56-year-old NYPD traffic officer was on 63rd Drive near Queens Boulevard around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday when 29-year-old Mark Garrido approached him for giving him a ticket, officials stated, per the New York Post.
Garrido got into a verbal dispute with the officer, hit his hand, and grabbed his ticket machine in anger, officials reported. Wearing a black cap, sweatshirt, and sweatpants, he fled in his SUV. Luckily, the officer was not injured, according to police.
The 29-year-old was later captured and has since been charged with
“third-degree robbery and second-degree assault,”
officials said.
