A Houston man, Jeff Lundy, says his dream of starting a ranch with his brother quickly turned into a nightmare after he was duped out of $9,000 by a phony company.

Lundy, 63, spotted a Facebook ad from a business called Stonewall Farm Equipment offering a tractor at an appealing price. Excited to get started, Lundy contacted the seller, received a formal invoice, and wired the money. That was the last he heard from them.

“I really thought it was legit,” Lundy said, according to Click2Houston. “We had a good conversation, they sent the paperwork, and I followed their instructions. But after that, nothing.”

When the tractor never showed up and calls went unanswered, Lundy tried contacting the number using a different phone. The person answered, then hung up. The company’s listed address led to a residential home, not a business.

KPRC’s Joy Addison tried the number herself; it was disconnected. Lundy contacted his bank, hoping to trace the wire sent to a Wells Fargo account, but no ownership details were available.

The Harris County Attorney’s Office urges buyers to verify sources, use secure payment methods, and report suspicious activity. Despite the setback, Jeff Lundy remains determined. “I’m not letting this go,” he said. “I want justice.”
