A man randomly stabbed 19-year-old college student Alan Ryvkin in the neck near City Hall in Manhattan on Wednesday morning. Ryvkin was heading to court for an unregistered vehicle ticket when the attack occurred. While he spoke with a woman outside the municipal building, a stranger approached from behind and stabbed him, sadly, leaving him bleeding. Despite the shocking assault, Ryvkin managed to survive, per the New York Post

Ryvkin said,

“When he walked away, the dude looked at me and smiled with the knife in his hand… I didn’t know who it is. I don’t know what it is. I got stabbed and I sit on the ground and start bleeding out.”

The attacker, dressed in a dark leather jacket and brown hat, fled down Reade Street and was still at large by early Wednesday afternoon.

Medics swiftly took Ryvkin to Bellevue Hospital, where he received treatment for the stab wound located between his lower neck and upper back.
