A woman claiming to be Martha Stewart’s “best friend” from federal prison has made a surprising allegation about a promise that she supposedly broke, according to the Parade.

62-year-old Lisa Guarino, who served time with Stewart in West Virginia’s Alderson Federal Prison Camp in 2004, shared that they quickly bonded, laughing, crying, and eating together while she helped Stewart adapt to prison life.

The lifestyle guru allegedly offered the woman and her relatives $1 million as a form of gratitude for her help.

Guarino told The Daily Mail,

“She told my family they no longer needed to put money on my books because she was going to take care of me… didn’t keep her word.”

If you’re unaware, Stewart, who is now 83, was sentenced to prison after an insider trading investigation. She was declared guilty back in March 2004, and she served time at a West Virginia women’s prison before being released in March 2005 under supervised release.
