Martin Lawrence’s daughter, Jasmin Lawrence, and Eddie Murphy’s son, Eric Murphy, are engaged. The couple announced their engagement online on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024. Their union will make their fathers a powerful comedy duo in-laws. Meanwhile, the two actors have started planning what a kid from their gene pools would be like.

Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin said yes to Eddie Murphy’s son, Eric, the love of her life. The duo got engaged on Wednesday, Nov. 27, but only announced their engagement on Instagram during the weekend. “11.27.2024 We’re engaged!!” the caption read on both Jasmin and Eric’s pages. They added:
“God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter. Special thank you to everyone who made this moment so beautiful!!”
The online clip showed the duo walking into a room decorated with candles and flower bouquets. The music was set to Eric Benét’s Spend My Life With You,” and the lovebirds stopped before a huge heart-shaped cutout light. When she said yes, Eric went on one knee and slipped the ring on his fiancee’s finger. They shared some kisses, and an excited Jasmin squealed, “I’m engaged,” in delight afterward as she showed off her ring finger.

The exact time Jasmin and Eric began their relationship is unknown; however, they went public in June 2021. At the time, Eddie Murphy’s son posted a picture of himself and Martin Lawrence’s daughter together on Instagram.
“Head over heels in LOVE with YOU @jasmin_lawrence, #myotherhalf #equallyyoked #iloveyou,” Eric wrote, alongside four red heart emojis.
Jasmin posted a birthday tribute to the voice actor a few weeks later on Instagram. She captioned the post of her and Eric’s selfies:
“Happy birthday, my love! I’m so incredibly blessed to know you, to love you, and to have you by my side. Cheers to many more blessings, laughs, and beautiful memories! I love you so much!! “

In 2022, while speaking with InTouch Weekly, Jasmin revealed that her uncle introduced her to her fiance despite Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy having already worked together on Boomerang and Life.
“It wasn’t even our dads, and they’ve done two movies together, they’re friends,” Jasmin said as she disclosed that her uncle brought her and Eric together. “We became really good friends because we bonded on a lot of things, and over time, it just, you know, became more.”

Meanwhile, the lovebirds aren’t the only ones ecstatic about their union. Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy have often shared their thoughts on becoming in-laws. Eddie told CBS Mornings in July that he and Martin think their kids’ relationship is “cool” and that the couple looks “amazing together.” The Daddy Day Care star also mentioned that everyone thinks Jasmin and Eric will give birth to a “funny baby” from the combined genes of Martin and Eddie.
Martin echoed the same sentiment during an appearance on JimmyKimmelLive in 2022 when he joked about Jasmin and Eric conceiving a “comedy super-baby.” He also revealed that he and Eddie didn’t discuss their kids’ relationship, choosing to respect their decisions. Meanwhile, during an interview with ET‘s Nischelle Turner, Eddie responded that he and Martin would be chill fathers-in-law when asked who would be the tougher father-in-law.
“They will have chill people on both sides,” Eddie said.
Martin Lawrence and Edde Murphy Banter Over Bills
The comedy duo is also having fun over who foots the wedding bill. During his Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance, Martin joked that he would try to get Eddie to pay the bill. However, the Shrek actor responded playfully to his co-star’s comment while talking to ET.
“That’s not how it goes,” he said and asked, “Customarily, the father pays for the daughter. Am I correct?”
The Coming to America star shared that he paid for his daughter Bria’s wedding and “really had to pay.”
“You have to do the same, Martin,” Eddie quipped, adding, “Bad Boys is out of the park, and Martin has lots and lots of money.”
It’s good to see Martin Lawrence’s and Eddie Murphy’s son having a good time together. Hopefully, their romance will continue to blossom, and they will walk down the aisle together soon.
