Maryland Cop Suspended for Recording Detainment of Former NBA Star Delonte West

A Maryland police officer has been suspended after video recordings of former NBA star #DelonteWest being questioned while shirtless and handcuffed began to circulate the internet, according to Prince George’s County police.
One of two videos circulating on social media shows West, very thin and shirtless, sitting on a curb with his hands cuffed behind his back. Police did confirm the man in the video is the former basketball player and that an officer is responsible for shooting the video.

The other video shows a man being beaten in the middle of a road. Police reportedly responded to a call about a fight near the MGM National Harbor casino, and when officers arrived, they saw a man bleeding from the face and “made the decision to handcuff” West.

According to police, West and the other man knew each other and had argued earlier that morning. Both men refused medical treatment and refused to press charges against each other. Prince George’s County Police said they learned of the viral video on Tuesday and an investigation followed. The officer’s suspension was announced the same day.

The 36-year-old spoke in 2015 about having bipolar disorder. Prayers go out to Delonte West ??
