A 23-year-old Maryland man, Dinari McAlmont, was found dead at a Bahamas resort just hours after arriving for a family vacation, according to Fox 5 Washington DC. McAlmont and his parents had traveled to Atlantis Paradise Island on April 4.

That evening, around 9 p.m., he left their dinner table to retrieve a jacket and explore the resort. He never returned. Resort staff later informed his mother that McAlmont had allegedly spat on several employees, prompting hotel officials to alert local authorities.

His mother, Michelle McAlmont, said she was unable to verify the accusations. She became concerned when her son’s phone could no longer be tracked. A missing person report was filed shortly after.

A search of the resort led to the discovery of McAlmont’s body early the next morning on the shoreline of Paradise Island. The Royal Bahamas Police Force confirmed he showed no signs of life upon being found. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death, and officials have not yet classified the case as a homicide.

Michelle McAlmont was later shown a photo of her son’s body and reported that Dinari appeared physically injured and unrecognizable. She has expressed deep distress and is now seeking legal counsel experienced in international cases as the investigation unfolds.

The Atlantis resort issued a statement offering condolences and confirmed it is cooperating with authorities. Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department maintains a Level 2 travel advisory for the Bahamas. The department cited increased violent crime, particularly in cities like Nassau and Freeport.
