After acknowledging that it was a sad goodbye, Allen explained that others were fully aware of the resignation. As such the Blaine County and Canadian County Sheriff’s Office are committed to supporting the town. The public information officer reassured thr residents that things would run smoothly. According to him, they can still make the 911 call and expect a swift response from an officer.
Alicia Ford, Geary Police Chief also made a personal statement via Facebook. She extended a heart of gratitude to the city while reinstating that the resignation was difficult. However, Ford emphasized that it was a necessary move. Next, she appealed to all residents to become more active as council members. This would include involvement in council meetings and lending their voices collectively.
This move has left many to wonder what might be happening as not one officer has said why they resigned. However, some sources suspect that the Geary City Council is responsible for the mass resignation of the Oklahoma Police Department. Meanwhile, Ford who has served the city since 2023 after taking over from Cecil Harrall has a replacement. JJ Stitt will assume the role of acting chief.
While they look to reinstate some new officers, the city is also working tirelessly to restore power. In Allen’s statement, a thunderstorm had disturbed power the previous day and had caused damages.
