Milwaukee Man Charged With Child Abuse After Allegedly Throwing Son Against a Wall Because He Was Losing NBA2K Video Game

(Milwaukee County Jail)

Jalin A. White, a 20-year-old from Milwaukee, has been charged with severe child abuse and neglect after allegedly injuring his eight-month-old son.

According to the criminal complaint, White became frustrated while playing the video game NBA2K and threw his son against a wall, reportedly because he was losing in the game, Law & Crime reports.

Initially, White gave conflicting accounts to authorities, claiming the baby’s injuries were accidental. However, he later admitted to throwing the child in anger.

“My son hit his head on the wall. He hit his head hard on the wall, bro,” White allegedly admitted. “I heard the wall … It was a loud hard wall.”

The child was transported to Children’s Wisconsin, where doctors found extensive injuries, including a significant skull fracture. The injuries are life-threatening, and reports indicate the baby may not survive.

The child’s mother, who had left the baby with White to run errands, returned to find the infant showing severe symptoms, including an unresponsive arm, discoloration in his hands, and swelling in one eye. She immediately called emergency services.

White is currently held on a $100,000 bond, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for November 15.
