A Redditor has admitted to the possibility of missing her best friend’s wedding. She unintentionally ditched her position as maid of honor for the big day after planning an intimate vacation with her husband to celebrate his birthday.
Loyalty Test Fail? Woman Sparks Debate After Choosing Vacation Over Best Friend’s Wedding
According to the Reddit user, her 26-year-old best friend made her the wedding’s maid of honor. The 25-year-old explained that her best friend failed to pick a wedding date sooner because of conflicting schedules and limited availability. At the same time, the intending bride was slightly fixed on having the wedding in December and on New Year’s Eve.
Sometimes, she talked about having the wedding in April, leaving a five to six months wing. However, the poster believed it would happen around New Year’s Eve. Bearing this in mind, she scheduled a $7,000 three-week lovers’ trip to honor her husband’s birthday.
The fee covers local and international flights. Sadly, she forgot to run her plans by her friend. This was slightly because the maid of honor believed the wedding wouldn’t be held yet. Consequently, cancellation would mean losing all that money.
Following the potential loss, the poster already knows that she may not attend her best friend’s wedding. She asked other Reddit users if her reasons for the absence were just. Additionally, the poster confessed that her friend is pissed off.
Some commenters praised her choice, adding that the friend was selfish. They believed that a five-month span for planning was too much. To them, it’s unfair to restrict people’s schedules because of a wedding. Invertedly, others blamed the poster, mentioning her lack of accountability. They added that she could have told her friend about the three-week-long vacation.
