Sadly, a mother and daughter from Kansas were killed in a murder-suicide carried out by the mother’s husband, officials say, reports People.
29-year-old Kristy C. Thow and her mother, 50-year-old Penny Smith were declared dead at the hospital after the
“domestic shooting,”
which happened at Smith’s house moments before 11 p.m. on May 18, officials say. Another victim, who hasn’t been revealed, was treated at the hospital and was later released.
The husband, Christopher Smith, 51, was discovered deceased from what appeared to be a
“self-inflicted gunshot wound,”
reports the outlet.
A GoFundMe page was created to raise money for remaining relatives as well as Thow’s daughter’s college fund.
“Kristy was a single mom, raising Camilla and helping raise her sisters’ children… She had a heart of gold and lived life to the fullest! She will be missed,”
said the GoFundMe page, created by Kristy’s aunt,
The fundraiser added that Kristy was struck
“multiple times protecting the life of her sister and her mom, my sister, from a crazed domestic abuser.”
The incident is still under investigation.
