A mother in Florida was arrested after her 2-year-old daughter was found in a hospital under the influence of meth. 29-year-old Debra Scott transported her child to the emergency room on March 21, claiming she was acting bizarrely and had too much energy. However, medical tests showed the toddler displayed symptoms typical of adults using meth, causing officials to take action, per to the Levy County Sheriff’s Office, reports the New York Post

A lab test revealed that the 2-year-old girl was high due to exposure to methamphetamines or other stimulants. Another test indicated she had also been exposed to opiates. Hospital staff were worried about her condition and quickly contacted officials for aid.

Scott just moved into a home in Bronson with her boyfriend and daughter. She noticed her daughter’s symptoms 12 hours before going to the hospital; however, did not inform officials. Instead, she contacted a friend to drive them to a distant hospital. When detectives interviewed Scott, she reportedly confessed to using meth recently.

Officials reported that the mother and her daughter resided with roommates and her boyfriend in a home associated with drug use. Scott was apprehended on Tuesday and faces charges of felony child neglect.
