Xavier Worthy is free of the domestic violence charge leveled against him. The decision came a day after authorities arrested the NFL player for harming his ex-fiancée. Worthy thereafter hired a private investigator who uncovered the football player’s fiancée, Tia Jones’ infidelity. The investigation also proved that Worthy had suffered assault from his ex. Consequently, the district attorney threw out the case against him.

Xavier Worthy Hired PI in Domestic Violence Case

Xavier Worthy became a free man on Saturday after hiring a private investigator in the domestic violence case his ex-fiancée, Tia Jones, filed. His attorneys, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, affirmed their client’s innocence and revealed that the PI has video evidence of Jones’ infidelity. They said Xavier Worthy’s domestic violence trouble stemmed from asking her to leave his house several times “upon discovery of her infidelity.” Jones, a professional track star, had been living with Worthy for some time and refused to leave.

“She has refused to vacate the residence and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr Worthy,” the lawyers said, according to The Guardian. They added, “The complainant further destroyed a room in the residence, scratched Mr. Worthy’s face and ripped out parts of his hair, which there is photographic evidence of. Worthy told law enforcement at the time of the incident he did not want to press charges against the complainant.”

Xavier Worthy Cleared Of Domestic Violence Charge

Worthy faced a third-degree felony charge for felony domestic violence. Authorities arrested him on Friday. According to the law, the offense is punishable with a sentence of two to 10 years of jail time. He could also have paid a fine not exceeding $10,000 in addition or as an alternative if found guilty. The Chiefs player was held in the county jail after his arrest for assaulting a family or household member. The report claimed the assault included impeding the breath or choking the victim.

However, Williamson County district attorney, Shawn Dick, dismissed the domestic violence case against Xavier Worthy the following day. Updates to the online court listing for the case showed “dismissed/declined” the same day. Dick said his office had spoken with witnesses and determined not to accept the case at this time. He also said Worthy and his lawyers were fully cooperating with the investigation.

Texas law stipulates that impeding breathing means “intentionally, knowingly or recklessly impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood of the person by applying pressure to the person’s throat or neck or blocking the person’s nose or mouth.” Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs said on Saturday before the update that they knew about the situation.  They also reported that they were still gathering information about it.

It must be a relief for Xavier Worthy and his attorneys to find his domestic violence case struck out. Fans are also glad the Chiefs wideout is free, and many have urged him to file a case against Jones. It remains to be seen what steps Worthy will take now that he has been cleared.
