An Ohio woman who claims she was being stalked by two women and acting in self-defense has been charged with aggravated murder after shooting and killing one of her alleged aggressors.
Akira Fletcher, 23, posted two videos on Facebook, in an effort to defend her actions after she says two women harassed her while she was in her car, Fox affiliate WXIX reports.
“She just threw another rock at me,” Fletcher says in one of the videos. “As you can see. She’s slashing my tires. She’s slashing my tires. Her and her cousin – slashing my tires. As you can see. I have a gun in my purse. I have a gun in my purse. They’re trying to make me get out of the car.”
“This is what happened July 12th, there’s two 911 calls of me asking for them to please send somebody,” Fletcher says. “I was being punched in my face, rocks thrown at me, and Nyema trying to get in my car.”
The 29-year-old woman Nyema Norton she is referring to, goes back and forth with Fletcher, arguing.
“She busted my driver side window out to attack me, she continued to try and get in my car to stab me and I let her hit me while I was on the phone with 911 asking for help,” Fletcher concludes. “I told them to stop over and over and over again. I never got out my car to fight or anything and I allowed her to punch me more then once.”
Fletcher firing off shots hitting both Norton and another woman who Fletcher referred to as Norton’s cousin. Norton died Aug. 26 from her gunshot wounds. Fletcher was arrested Aug. 31. Fletcher’s case was first considered self-defense, but a grand jury later indicted her on additional charges including murder and felonious assault
