A parent was apprehended for reportedly walking into a North Carolina high school and assaulting a student. The incident transpired Monday morning at Fike High in Wilson, North Carolina. Principal Ross Renfrow stated that the parent was told to go to the office, per USA TODAY.
The parent failed to report to the office
“based on a situation that happened outside of school.”
Its unclear why the pupil was attacked by the adult. The principal said upon the attack, he and other employees interfered right away, de-escalating the incident. The parent was later removed from the building.
WRAL News shared a video showing the parent grabbing the 17-year-old boy by the shirt, dragging him, and then pushing him toward a staircase. As the suspect is pulled away, the boy seems to have a seizure before standing up and leaving.
The principal said that he is collaborating with officials and charges were filed. Reports added that the parent is banned from school property.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately update USA TODAY, but WNCN and The Wilson Times reported the parent, later identified as, Quinton Earl Lofton was charged with felony assault by strangulation and disorderly conduct for attacking a student at school over an outside incident. He was held on a $7,500 bond but was released within a few hours.
