Two parents from Dubuque, Iowa, are facing felony neglect charges after their 1-year-old child fell into a bucket of bleach at their residence. Scott A. Marcov, 30, and Madelyn A. Marcov, 28, was apprehended on Tuesday. Scott was in the bathtub, while Madelyn was in the living room during the incident. It’s unclear how long the child’s head was inside the bucket, reports WSAZ.
A different child reportedly witnessed the incident and brought the 1-year-old to the couple while asking for assistance. The toddler suffered from severe breathing problems and lost consciousness, according to the Telegraph Herald.
After Madelyn called 911, the child was taken to UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital and later transported to the University of Iowa Health Care for further care. Officials arrived at their home on Oct. 1 and found it very dirty, with mice and trash everywhere, and three children inside.
