A woman’s friends were able to reach the NSW Ambulance just in time for help. Sources say that the woman tried to save her phone after it dropped. However, she became stuck between boulders which led to the call for help. This ordeal lasted for seven hours yet she couldn’t get her phone. Fortunately, she got out in one piece.
7 Hours Between Boulders: Aussie Woman’s Phone Recovery Turns Into An Epic Rescue By NSW Ambulance
Fox News reported that in Australia, the New South Wales Ambulance was alerted following a self-initiated trap. Photos from the authorities showed that a woman had her feet stuck in boulders. She had tried to rescue her device which fell into the space between the rocks. These huge rocks were in the Hunter Valley. But consequently, her attempt to retrieve her phone was unsuccessful, rather it left her locked in, 3 meters deep.
Although she was surrounded by friends, they had to reach out to the NSW Ambulance, after many failed rescue attempts. Upon arrival, the crew wriggled her feet through a tight “S” bend. During this time, they also displaced a 1,100-pound rock.
While recounting the rescue process, officials expressed shock. One of the first responders, Peter Watt claimed that it was a first-of-its-kind situation following his years as a paramedic. However in the end, amid the challenge— Watt said it was rewarding. Through teamwork, the officials took an hour to release the victim.
But NSW Ambulance reports that the woman spent seven hours altogether faced upside down. So it was not until seven hours after she got stuck, that she was saved. Thankfully, the victim now identified as Matilda Campbell only sustained a few scratches and injuries. Still, she was unable to find her phone. However, she appreciated the rescue team in a brief message online.
