James Toliver Craig was first charged with first-degree murder relating to his wife’s death in 2023. Now, the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office disclosed that he faces two other charges. Meanwhile, his lawyer has withdrawn from the case as he faces trial in about two weeks.
One of James’ new charges includes solicitation to murder in the first degree. The other is solicitation to commit perjury in the first degree. According to the District Attorney’s office, the suspect refused to represent himself in court on November 21, but the judge proceeded with the trial. His attorneys declined to represent him on the same day. The reasons presented were “professional conflicts and other reasons.”
This is not the first time James Toliver Craig will be slapped with a felony charge. In March 2023, he faced a first-degree murder charge for poisoning his wife, Angela Craig’s workout drink. However, he pleaded not guilty. The Aurora Police Department claimed via arrest affidavit that James slipped potassium cyanide and arsenic into the drink.
Per People, late Angela was rushed to the hospital after complaining of dizziness. After getting discharged shortly after admission, Angela returned to the hospital. This happened for more than a week before she unfortunately died at 43. Investigators mentioned that James, a serial cheater and porn addict had researched “undetectable poisons.”
Following the research, James Toliver Craig purchased potassium cyanide and arsenic. The cops also discovered that James was in contact with a female dental professional. He allegedly flew her into Denver while visiting Angela at the hospital. But when Angela died, the other woman claimed that boundaries needed to be set for some time. James is set to appear in court on December 16.
