Amanda Leeann Porter now faces fraud charges after successfully impersonating a nurse for weeks. The 44-year-old deceived her employers while using the identity of an out-of-town nurse. Throughout her time nursing, she oversaw over sixty patients without a license, police say.

The Los Angeles County District Office is charging Porter with a handful of allegations including grand theft, false impersonation, and identity theft. On top of that, Porter is on federal probation in her home state where she is accused of a fraud conviction.

Following her arrest, she was placed in the Los Angeles County Central Regional Detention Facility. On December 2, the accused will be present at the Burbank Municipal Court for her first hearing.

Before becoming a person of interest, Porter successfully tricked multiple employers. In April, the suspect was hired by a Catholic hospital. Allegedly, during her time at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, she identified as a registered nurse. This happened for a whole month, from April to May while she attended to patients. But her co-workers knew something wasn’t right.

They eventually discovered that Porter was pretending to be another nurse who lived somewhere else. Porter had already received two paychecks before getting fired. She also repeated the same act at Santa Clarita. There, she worked as a ‘licensed’ nurse at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. But once the truth was discovered, the hospital immediately fired her.

Neither healthcare facility believed the care she administered during her brief time on their payrolls was inadequate. Despite being in detention, police maintained that Porter might have been employed by more hospitals. According to the cops, she probably worked in Southern California throughout the last year.
