Rapper Quavo, a member of the hip-hop trio Migos, is facing criticism after being accused of taking money from popular streamer Vitaly and not showing up for a scheduled event.
The controversy began when Vitaly, known for his prank videos and large online following, publicly accused Quavo of accepting payment for an appearance on his “Catch a Predator” livestream and ghosting him. But he says Quavo failed to fulfill the agreement, according to reports.
Vitaly detailed the arrangement in a series of tweets and livestreams, stating that he had paid Quavo $300,000 to join him for a special streaming event to engage their mutual fanbases.
According to Vitaly, the agreement was made several weeks in advance, with both parties confirming the collaboration details. However, when the scheduled date arrived, Quavo was notably absent, leaving Vitaly and his viewers disappointed.
Vitaly, visibly frustrated, shared his thoughts during a livestream and made it about race, stating, “Quavo’s not coming. He took our deposit. It’s a Black people thing,” presumably implying that Black people are scammers and liars.
But after that nasty comment, social media users took Quavo’s side for stiffing the streamer.
Quavo hasn’t responded and seems unbothered as the former Migos member promotes his music.
