Court documents have uncovered new details amid Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia’s divorce battle. Williams presented a witness to back her case after Guobadia refused to follow their prenuptial agreement. The legal battle is unfolding amid Guobadia’s struggle to escape ICE detainment and avoid deportation. Meanwhile, the Nigerian entrepreneur’s lawyer has requested that the divorce proceedings be halted until his client escapes detainment.

Simon Guobadia Delayed Disclosing Assets For Prenup With Porsha Williams

Porsha Williams has brought in a witness to defend her case against Simon Guobadia. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star has been fighting her estranged husband over the prenuptial agreement. Meanwhile, new information states that Williams postponed her wedding to the businessman twice before they eventually married. According to the reality TV star’s witness, Jordan B. Forman, this happened because Guobadia delayed disclosing his assets. Williams submitted an affidavit from Forman attesting to this.

“Throughout the process of the parties negotiation of the prenuptial agreement, there were significant delays that extended the process over several months,” her former attorney said, according to In Touch Weekly. “As I recall, the most significant factor causing delays in the negotiation process was [Simon’s] inability to produce information regarding his income, assets and liabilities.”

Porsha Williams Refused To Marry Simon Guobadia Twice

Forman, who negotiated Porsha Williams’ prenup with Simon Guobadia’s lawyer, Alex Cutler, said the negotiations started in December 2021. He spoke with Cutler then and got a first draft from him around the same time. Meanwhile, Simon Guobadia’s constant delays prolonged his and Porsha Williams’ wedding plans. The actress had insisted multiple times there would be no wedding if she didn’t get her fiance’s financial information. Therefore, their wedding was postponed twice.

“There had been discussions between the parties about the wedding(s) occurring in August and September 2022. However, those weddings never occurred, at least in part due to [Simon’s] failure to provide [Porsha] information relating to his income, assets and liabilities.” Forman revealed. He added, “As a result, the wedding was postponed until the week of Thanksgiving in late November 2022.”

Williams and Guobadia finally signed their prenup on November 17, 2022, after the former produced his bank details.

Simon Guobadia’s Lawyer Asks To Postpone Divorce Battle

Williams and Guobadia married a few days after signing their prenuptial agreement and split 15 months later. The Real Housewives alum filed for divorce in February 2024, but her estranged husband refused to recognize the prenuptial agreement. However, William’s former attorney wrote in his affidavit that November 17, 2022, “is shown as the date of execution on the Prenuptial Agreement.”

Meanwhile, ICE detained Guobadia last month while the court proceedings were ongoing and before their hearing scheduled for this month. Therefore, his lawyer asked for the divorce hearing to be halted until his release “to give [him] an opportunity to adequately prepare for Court, participate in his own divorce and attend court proceedings.” However, Williams has objected and said her estranged husband is suffering from the consequences of his actions.

“Husband’s detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is the direct result of his attempt to illegally enter the United States. This detention is a foreseeable legal consequence of his actions and not an act of ‘divine intervention’ as claimed,” her lawyer argued.

Considering what is happening with Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia, the actress was right to insist on full disclosure. Hopefully, the judge will decide soon so the former couple can move on.
