Homemade Meal at Work Turns Toxic: NAFCO Employees Sickened in Maryland
First responders including firefighters and paramedics attended to employees from NAFCO in Jesse, Maryland. About 46 of them all exhibited signs of food poisoning while complaining of feeling unwell. Reports came in around 3:45 pm. Upon arrival, Howard County Fire and Rescue services obtained that they had all eaten a home-cooked meal. Per USA Today, one of the employees thought to share their home-cooked meals around the office during their shift.
According to the company, the distribution from the said worker was unsanctioned. Upon further investigation, they realized that the person made the food over the weekend in their home. It has not been determined whether it was an intentional act. But investigations are still ongoing and the Howard County Health Department already exonerated NAFCO.
In a bid to emphasize the safety of their food, the distributor firm has maintained that they have a food standard. This causes them to prioritize food safety which undergoes strict inspection from the Health Department.
NAFCO also explained that amid the food poisoning, none of the consumer’s outlets were affected by the food. In fact, following the issue, they were immediately able to nib it in the bud. As for the workers affected, shortly after treatment, they were released from the hospital. Sources claimed that all 46 of them were checked into different hospitals around the counties.
