An Ohio mother is facing multiple charges of child endangerment after police discovered she left her three children home alone for nearly three days while traveling to Florida to accompany a friend undergoing liposuction surgery.
Domonique Knowles, 32, was arrested after school teachers, concerned about the children and their inability to contact their mother, alerted authorities.
The children—ages 10, and 7-year-old twins were left unsupervised for three days, according to police reports. Knowles had traveled to Florida on Thursday for her friend’s cosmetic surgery and failed to arrange for any adult supervision or provide her children with a phone to call for help in case of an emergency.
“[The 10-year-old] kind of reported to her teacher that she talked to mom on the camera last night and that mom ordered them Uber Eats and left it at the door,” the teacher said in a phone call to police, requesting officers do a welfare check, per Law & Crime.
The apartment reportedly was nasty and unkempt with liquid spilled all over the floor.
“Mom wasn’t really checking in … remote work is one thing; remote mom is another. But mom wasn’t even checking in. The girls made that clear,” said prosecuting attorney Michael Maloney said.
Knowles faces up to six months in prison after being found guilty of child endangerment earlier this month.
