Jayden Daniels‘ mom, Regina Jackson, has explained her statement about protecting her son. Jackson stirred controversy when she shared that her biggest fear regarding her son was girls. Jayden Daniels’ Mom Defends Statement About Protecting Him
Jayden Daniels’ mom, Regina Jackson, discussed her statement, which recently elicited debates online. Following the backlash, she sat with Ryan Clark on the latest episode of his Pivot Podcast to clarify her statement. Jackson explained that she rightfully feared for her son and the high probability of his being targeted by predatory partners. She noted that it was a legitimate concern for star athletes.
Jayden Daniels’ mom said, “The whole girls comment was made, first of all, two years into him being at LSU. It was a question asked, what is your biggest fear, and that should be every parent’s biggest fear. If you’re a star athlete and you’re a female in the WNBA, that should be your biggest fear… Your dollar amount is associated with your name, so you never know who really is there for you and who’s really against you.”
However, Jackson admitted that her son needed to be able to make his own decisions. She also revealed that she is confident in Daniels’ ability to make the right choices, as she raised him right. Jayden Daniels’ mom further clarified her intentions, noting that the athlete can date whomever he wants.
“I want Jayden to date… My son can date. He can live freely and make his own decisions,” she told Clark.
Jayden Daniels’ Mom Says She Is On The Lookout For ‘Predatory’ Women
Given the fallout from many athletes’ choice of partners, Jayden Daniels’ mom’s fear is unsurprising. She earned both the ire and applause of the internet when she revealed her plan to keep away “predatory women.” Jackson appeared on Amazon’s The Money Game docuseries and replied that the biggest threat to her son’s career is “girls.” Jayden Daniels’ mom then expatiated, saying, per Clutch Point:
“Some girl out here, she’s got a Jayden Daniels wall and her mama says, ‘Hey honey, you’re going to be the one to get ’em.’ And I know that sounds crazy, but I guarantee there’s someone who’s trying to get their hooks into Jayden Daniels… So thank god he got a mama like me because it ain’t happening.”
Meanwhile, Daniels expected his mother’s answer. He replied to her statement, “I bet she did say something like that,” while laughing.

While some found Jayden Daniels’ mom’s disclosure heartwarming and reasonable, others thought she was overbearing. Their fears heightened after a clip of JuJu Watkins and Jayden Daniels surfaced on TikTok. The USC superstar and Daniels sat courtside beside each other and appeared to have a cozy discussion. However, Jackson soon interrupted the duo’s chat after sitting between them.
At some point, she seemed to ask the Washington Commanders quarterback to focus on the game instead of talking to Watkins. This further sparked controversy online about possible helicopter parenting on her part.
It is not out of place for a star athlete’s parent to want to protect their child from predators. Now that Jayden Daniels’ mom has clarified her intention, fans can rest assured that their favorite is in good hands.
