The Real Housewives of Potomac alum Candace Dillard Bassett was unhappy with how Allison Holker managed her recent revelations about her late husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss. She went online to express her displeasure and suggested places she thought were better for the mom of three to share her late husband’s business. Holker recently granted People an exclusive interview on the secrets she unearthed about her husband shortly after his death. However, Dillard found the experience disrespectful to tWitch.

Candace Dillard shared on X, formerly Twitter, that Allison Holker could have withheld certain revelations about her late husband. Holker had said in her interview that she discovered tWitch’s drug addiction and sexual abuse after his death. However, Dillard found this disgraceful to tWitch’s legacy and said so online.

“I’m not even gonna say it. But this white woman is doing everything but protecting her Black children and her Black husband’s legacy. She could’ve kept this in her therapist’s office. SMH,” she wrote.

Candace Dillard Suggested Black-Owned Media Outfits

After Dillard’s post on X, a fan tried to excuse Allison Holker’s revelations as her raising awareness. The fan wrote:

“I wouldn’t do it but is it possible that her intent is to make people aware of mental illness/drug abuse, recognize the signs and eliminate the stigma? I just hope she ran it by his family first. Not that it makes it any easier for any of them.”

However, The RHOP alum disagreed and stated that it would have been more appropriate for black-owned media outlets to handle Allison Holker’s revelations. She replied to the fan, saying:

“[Holker] could’ve just easily taken this story to Essence or Ebony where care would have been taken to share such a tragically intimate story of a Black man’s plight against himself.”

She also suggested the Black Church, Creflo, or TD as better alternatives for telling the “story.”

Allison Holker’s Revelations about Stephen “tWitch’s” Addiction

In an interview with People, published on January 7, 2025, Allison Holker made some shocking revelations about her late husband. The dancer revealed that she found her tWitch’s drug supply just before his funeral. She said she discovered a “cornucopia” of drugs, including pills, mushrooms, and “other substances” she had to look up on her phone hidden inside his shoeboxes. Holker and tWitch were married for nine years and shared three children. The choreographer committed suicide in December 2022.

Holker told the outlet she was sad that her husband kept his struggles away from her.

“I was with one of my really dear friends, and we were cleaning out the closet and picking out an outfit for him for the funeral,” she recalled. “It was a really triggering moment for me because there were a lot of things I discovered in our closet that I did not know existed. It was very alarming to me to learn that there was so much happening that I had no clue [about].”

Allison Holker Wants to Use Her Revelations to Help Others

Allison Holker revealed that she learned more about tWitch when she read his journal. Although they had both practiced honesty in their marriage, he never disclosed some things, including that a man sexually abused him as a child because he didn’t want to burden her. Allison Holker told People that although she was scared after discovering tWitch’s struggles, those revelations helped her understand he “was going through so much and he was hiding so much, and there must have been a lot of shame in that.”

“Reading Stephen’s journals, and even going back into the books he had read and the things he was highlighting and lining, really gave me a better perspective of where he was in life and the type of things he was struggling with,” she said, adding that it made her empathetic and sad.

Holker also revealed that she wants to save those in tWitch’s situation, “I really hope people dealing with the same thing will help themselves out of the shadows and [know] you’re going to be okay,” the dancer assured.

Holker’s revelations about Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ struggles may help raise awareness about silent suffering and refusing to share or seek help. Hopefully, people with painful secrets can seek assistance on time.
