Billionaire singer and entrepreneur Rihanna recently shocked fans when she revealed something more dear to her heart than music. The Diamonds singer has kept fans thirsting for a new album since she dropped the last one in 2016. However, with her latest confession, fans may have to wait a while before getting anything new. This didn’t sit well with fans, though, as many stated Rihanna’s music was never a priority before the kids.
Rihanna Shocks Fans With Confession About Music
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky attended the 38th Annual Footwear News Achievement Awards (FNAAs), popularly regarded as the “Shoe Oscars,” on Dec. 4, 2024, alongside several industry veterans, fashion stars, and philanthropists. While on the red carpet, Rihanna made a shocking confession that startled some fans eagerly waiting for her to release new music. The Work singer revealed that motherhood was her new priority.
When asked how being a mom had impacted her creative process, she responded:
“It’s impacted it greatly. It’s a new priority. My kids are my priority. Music comes second to that.”
Rihanna, who shares two kids with A$AP Rocky, last released music in 2016 with her album Anti. She has been teasing the release of her next album, R9, but that may be on hold for now.
Fans Express Displeasure Over Rihanna’s Music Hiatus
Rihanna’s comments didn’t sit well with many who felt the singer didn’t care for music as she did her other ventures.
“Queen music is been at the bottom since Fenty. Beauty has been invented way before the kids came,” one fan responded to the post on Instagram.
A second person wrote:
“Girl, just say you don’t wanna make music anymore. “
Meanwhile, a third fan referred to the conspiracy theories he heard about the music icon.
“She had her first kid in 2022 we waiting on this album since 2017 I’m starting to believe the conspiracy theories about her,” they commented.
“In other words music coming never,” another person asked.
Many were also pessimistic about Rihanna releasing any songs or albums again.
Other Fans Defend Rihanna
Meanwhile, other people rose to the Fenty founder’s defense and knocked those who kept asking her for new music.
“But any human with common knowledge should knows this, she shouldn’t even have to say this or explain it … keep being a great mom and person Riri,” one person argued.
A second fan commented, “Can they stop asking this woman about music seriously 🤦♀️.”
Meanwhile, a third fan suggested that Rihanna no longer wanted to make music because of her experience within the industry.
“She’s a Pisces! She doesn’t want to do music ever again! The music industry is slavery and probably traumatizing to her and she doesn’t have passion for it anymore,” they wrote.
Another person listed out the Grammy winner’s priorities as they thought best.
“God First Husband Second Children Third Career Fourth,” they said.
Rihanna has been vocal about how she enjoys motherhood and has often shared that she will have as many kids as possible. This makes the prospect of a new album bleak. However, the entrepreneur known for her work ethic might just surprise fans soon and release new music.
