Russell Simmons Claims His Move To Bali Isn’t Connected To The Multiple Sexual Assault Allegations Made Against Him and Ongoing Legal Battles

66-year-old music executive Russell Simmons has been residing in Bali for years, which some attribute to the multiple accusations of sexual harassment, assault, or rape. However, Simmons claims that these serious allegations did not influence his decision to move and are not preventing him from returning to the United States.

The exec informed AllHipHop,

“People saying that I somehow can’t come home when I’m there all the time wears on you. It wears on me after a while to keep hearing the same narrative, which is false. I’m always in L.A., I’m always in New York and Miami. And I’ve never had any reason to feel unsafe in America.”

Simmons clarified his previous statement about his living situation in his latest court motion. He was sued in February by a woman alleging sexual assault and harassment from the 90s. In his latest filing, Simmons indicated that he does not intend to return to his birth country.

He penned in his most recent filing pertaining to the matter,

“I am not physically present in New York and I do not have an intention to live in New York in the future. I own no property in the United States. I have been living in Bali since 2018, which is where I intend to remain. For at least nine years before I moved to Bali, I lived in California. As a California resident, I paid California resident taxes in the years immediately prior to moving to Bali. Currently, I pay California non-resident state taxes.”

If you’re unaware former Def Jam executive Drew Dixon successfully served Russell Simmons with a defamation lawsuit at his Gdas Bali Health And Wellness Resort earlier this year. Simmons requested the dismissal of her suit, arguing that there was no credible evidence to support her claim. Dixon maintains that Simmons attempted to tarnish her reputation and dismissed her rape accusation, along with others, as a money-making scheme.
