Simmons confirmed his friend’s passing on his social media account before launching a passionate plea for better living and dieting. Simmons had just announced yesterday, February 5, that Irv Gotti was on life support and asked for prayers for him. Unfortunately, the record producer passed away the same day.
Russell Simmons Implores Black Community To Be Health-Conscious
Russell Simmons is advocating for healthy living among black men and women following the death of music producer Irv Gotti. He pleaded with the community to learn lessons from his friend’s death.
“Brothers and sister please dont let Irv Gotti go without acknowledging the tragedy of his death and of black men’s and womens health in America,” he began on his Instagram account.
Simmons said the late Gotti was a “talented, beautiful, happy, curious, and enthusiastic” person who died “too soon.”
The entrepreneur then announced to his audience, saying that all who faced “this crisis, the epidemic of chronic diseases and illnesses are a result of bad dieting and lack of self care.” He claimed black people were being “poisoned” faster than whites but admitted that more black people were making healthier lifestyle choices.
“You are three times more likely to be vegan than your white counterparts. You are much more likely to use natural remedies than the rest of America,” he admitted.
Russell Simmons Wants The Black Community To Act Quickly
Nevertheless, Simmons believes that black people need to act fast and make better choices quicker in the wake of Irv Gotti’s death. He said:
“You are waking up. but not fast enough ..those of you who are taking directions from great nutritionists like Dr Sebi, you’re walking away from this group of chronic sicknesses.”
The 67-year-old writer also asked those with a grip on their wellness journey to help those still struggling with their health.
“Help your brothers and sisters to take the same route that you are on,” he pleaded. He concluded with a message about his late friend. “Rest in peace Irv,” he wrote.
Irv Gotti Dies at 54
Friends and fans were shocked when the news of Irv Gotti’s death broke out today. He passed away after a stroke, which left him on life support. The Murder Inc. Records founder battled diabetes for several years and suffered multiple complications consequently. In the meantime, the cause of Irv Gotti’s death has not been revealed.
