34-year-old Valeriya Beseda-Kalinochkina sparked several reactions after sharing snaps from her Maldives vacation less than two months after her husband’s demise.

The tattoo artist’s late husband, mercenary Petr Kalinochkin, 37, lost his life fighting for one of Vladimir Putin’s private military groups in Africa. The couple had been married for 12 years before his passing.

Their marriage resulted in a £43,025 compensation payout. Valeriya received half of the money, while her mother-in-law received the other half.

Unapologetic about her trip, Valeriya responded to critics, saying, “Am I ashamed of my Maldives photos? No, not at all. I’m doing what I need to feel alive. I don’t care what people say.”

She insisted she wasn’t seeking a wealthy partner, adding, “I have what to show off, but that doesn’t mean I’m looking for a sugar daddy.” Petr had been deployed in Mali as part of the Wagner Group and was killed within six weeks.

Per The Sun, the widow recalled their final conversation, revealing she learned of his death through a WhatsApp message from a Wagner representative. Reflecting on his fate, she admitted:

“Honestly, I ask myself why he died. The truth? It was for money.”

Valeriya Beseda-Kalinochkina’s remarks, particularly about her lack of knowledge to assess Putin’s politics, fueled further criticism. Many accused her of being emotionless, and some suggested she had moved on too quickly, prioritizing luxury over mourning.

#Clique, what do you think—was her reaction justified, or was the criticism warranted?
