Ruth Robison and her husband were being dutiful parents when Hamza Smajlovic shot at her and her husband. Ruth’s daughter had just broken up with her ex and she attempted to move out of his house. But unfortunately, it ended with one person dead and another injured.
The authorities responded to reports of a shooting at Des Moines on NW 51st Place. Around 5:24 pm, there were reports of a shooting at Smajlovic’s residence. Per People, the relationship allegedly ended and the lady was moving out of the shooter’s house.
Ruth Robison and her husband were in the apartment as they tried to pack her belongings. However, Smajlovic confronted the Robisons’ and shot them with a 9mm pistol. They were shot in the head and lost a lot of blood before reaching the hospital.
Consequently, Ruth Robison passed away at the hospital while her husband survived. However, he remains under strict observation as he is in critical condition. As for the shooter, he is already in police custody. Hamza Smajlovic now faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.
The authorities have ruled the incident as a “tragic situation.” Smajlovic is currently detained in the Polk County Jail. This is where he will remain as the investigation continues. However, if he can afford a $750,000 cash-only bond, he will be free to go home. The suspect’s first trial will be on November 12. Sources say an attorney for the defense is yet to be confirmed.
