A Texas man is accused of making an underage girl, who had escaped from a group home, have sex with 20 different people, including his brother, who is referred to as
“Big Face Tulu,”
per Law & Crime.
Tyrone Berry, 58, faces charges of human trafficking and sexual assault of a child. In June 2019, deputies were called to a Walmart in Houston about a missing girl, reports state. She later told detectives that she had run away from the group home and ended up at a $39.99/ night hotel called North Villa Inn, where she met Berry. He allegedly forced her to
“work”
in exchange for food. The complaint states that Berry also worked at the hotel.
The girl told authorities that Berry would arrange
“dates”
with men and
“tell her what to do.”
The girl said she had to have sex with men for money, but she never received any cash; instead, Berry gave her food. He took her to his home and his brother Otis Berry aka
“Big Face Tulu’s”
recording studio, where she was allegedly forced to have sex with Otis and 20 other men, while also being given drugs.
Suspects Arrested
Detectives gathered evidence, and Tyrone Berry admitted to talking with her. She identified him in a photo lineup. He was arrested in November 2019, but the case was dropped in March 2022 because prosecutors felt they couldn’t prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutors filed the charges again last week, and police arrested him.
They also got an arrest warrant for 54-year-old Otis Berry in November 2019 for sexual assault of a child, forcing prostitution, and human trafficking. He was on the run for two months before he gave himself up to the authorities in January 2020, according to Houston NBC affiliate KPRC. In an interview, he said his brother was to blame for his troubles.
“I’m really anxious to get my name cleared, and my story heard,”
he said.
Tyrone Berry remains in the Harris County Jail with a $50,000 bond. The Texas sex offender website shows that he was convicted of sexually assaulting a child in 1994 and 2006.
