Kanye West’s Yeezy brand website has been shut down for violating Shopify’s store policy. The entrepreneur ran foul of the store’s rules and regulations after he cleared his brand’s entire catalog off the online store. In their place, he advertised only one item, a T-shirt with the Nazi swastika printed on it. Users who tried to locate his store found it deactivated this morning. The development follows West’s recent social media tirades against Jews and his declaration of love for Adolf Hitler.
Kanye West’s Yeezy Website Shut Down
Yeezy customers can no longer access the online store. This is because Shopify, the website hosting Kanye West’s footwear and streetwear brand, shut it down. Search results only reveal a blank page with messages saying, “Store not available,” and asking customers to return to the previous page. Shopify shut down Kanye West’s Yeezy website after he wiped out his entire catalog, replacing it with a T-shirt with the Nazi swastika on it. Shopify’s representative revealed why they took that measure on Tuesday, February 11.
They told The Hollywood Reporter that Yeezy’s website shutdown was necessary in light of Ye’s actions.
“All merchants are responsible for following the rules of our platform. This merchant did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms so we removed them from Shopify,” the spokesperson explained.
Although they failed to mention which policy Ye violated, the e-commerce platform’s terms of service state that it will “restrict product or activities that we deem unsafe, inappropriate or offensive.”
Kanye West Ran A Controversial Super Bowl Ad
The Super Bowl on Sunday, February 9, was a time for Americans to unwind and watch their favorite teams fight for the trophy. However, Kanye West’s ad at the event led to a stir that culminated in the shutdown of his Yeezy website. The ad, shot on an iPhone, was aired in the Los Angeles area two days before Shopify took down West’s Yeezy.com website, and it showed Ye sitting in a dentist’s chair. It had passed legal approval and was broadcast in several local markets, including LA.
The Yeezy website changed immediately after the ad aired. The former merchandise was replaced with the controversial $20 white T-shirt alone. Kanye West’s action went unnoticed before the ad. However, it sparked significant backlash, causing his Yeezy website to be taken down.
Kanye West Made Controversial Remarks On Social Media
The rapper’s controversial website update was not a standalone action. For several days before the Super Bowl, he was on a tirade on X, making antisemitic comments that sparked international outrage. West’s antisemitic remarks were a mirror of his 2022 statements, calling for hate against the Jews. At the time, he lost partnerships with several brands, including Adidas. Recently, he revived his hateful rhetoric and declared himself a Nazi. He also proclaimed his love for Adolf Hitler.
Some of Ye’s comments on X included, “I LOVE HITLER NOW WHAT B*****ES” and “IM A NAZI.” Additionally, he made derogatory and sexist comments, such as his misogynistic remarks about controlling his wife’s dress choices. Moreover, he expressed support for disgraced music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and expressed no sympathy for domestic abuse victims. West also called for Trump to free the music producer from jail. Eventually, after venting and feeling “free,” Ye left X, and his account was deleted.
