Skai Jackson Seeks Full Custody Of Her Son Amid Legal Battle With Ex-Deondre Burgin

The cracks in Skai Jackson and Deondre Burgin’s relationship have become visible following a restraining order request. Jackson made the request earlier this week, alleging multiple instances of domestic violence. Skai Jackson is seeking full custody of her and Deondre Burgin’s son, Kasai. A source close to her said she made the decision after fearing for her and Kasai’s safety. She also seeks child support and damages for her property, which Burgin destroyed. Skai Jackson and Deondre Burgin welcomed their child in January 2025. The actress announced that they named the baby Kasai.

Skai Jackson Files Restraining Order Against Deondre Burgin

Jackson has filed and obtained a domestic violence restraining order against her baby daddy, Burgin. In her filing, she detailed multiple instances of domestic violence, including one when she was holding their newborn. She claimed the attack happened on Mother’s Day this month. The Disney Channel alum submitted the petition to the L.A. County Superior Court. Onsite obtained court documents detailing the various instances of abuse.

Jackson said Burgin assaulted her on Mother’s Day by grabbing her by the hair and slamming her head against a car window. He also allegedly punched her in the face. The Jessie actress further declared that she has always experienced domestic violence throughout her relationship with her baby daddy. Skai Jackson also told the judge that there was a six-month period during which Deondre Burgin assaulted her weekly. This included choking her, scratching her, and slamming her head into walls.

Skai Jackson Claims Deondre Burgin Tried To Kill Their Unborn Child

Skai Jackson’s restraining order request revealed that her baby daddy allegedly tried to kill their son before he was born. She shared one instance where Burgin demanded that she drink bleach to kill the baby. Skai Jackson said she was pregnant at the time, and Deondre Burgin held her at knifepoint to force her. He also threatened to stab her if she tried to call for help while walking her to her car.

The 23-year-old actress said that she locked herself in the bathroom to protect herself on another occasion. She claimed that Burgin punched through her bathroom door and slammed her against a wall. He then “choked [Skai] until [she] could not breathe.” Jackson claimed the abuse didn’t stop at physical violence. She alleged that Burgin also damaged her personal property, including an iPhone and her walls. The damage totaled $1,878.76. She claimed she had video evidence to prove this.

A source close to Skai Jackson said she filed a restraining order against Deondre Burgin because of her family’s safety. “The safety and well-being of her family is the top priority,” they told People. “This restraining order was filed as a necessary measure to protect her and her child from continued harassment and threats.”

Skai Jackson and Deondre Burgin met while the latter, who goes by “Yerky Yerky” online, was in prison. The next month, she shared how difficult but rewarding motherhood had been. In the meantime, the judge has granted her a temporary restraining order request. The next court date is June 9, 2025.
