2023 Murder of 18-Year-Old: Smith County District Attorney Demands Death Penalty Named Jamaurea Britton
KETK Tyler reports that after confirmation that Hood was out with her peers including Jamaurea Britton. However, according to his account, the deceased only visited him briefly and left the apartment. But an affidavit proved that there was more to the story. Upon questioning, in his home, an officer had spotted blood near the man’s apartment. But the suspect at the time lied that it wasn’t human blood.
This wasn’t convincing enough so the Tyler Police took him in for further interview. Shockingly Britton confessed to the murder. But his excuse was that it happened in a “fit of rage.” Judging by his account of how the homicide went down, Hood suffered terribly. She was hit on the head by a bottle of Stella Rose before receiving a deadly blow to her face. Britton didn’t stop there, he hit her with a hammer and strangled her.
Despite the hitting, Hood hung on to life. Her killer left for her home with a child she was babysitting. The deranged criminal took the child to Hood’s mom before coming back to finally end her life. Jamaurea Britton claimed he killed her with a knife as she muttered his name back to him. Once the 18-year-old was out of breath, her killer left her remains behind his home.
In September, Jamaurea Britton was held behind bars at the Smith County Jail with a $1 million bail bond set. Apart from that, he also has a $50,000 bond following a terroristic threat made to an ex-girlfriend. In December, a Smith County grand jury indicted the 19-year-old. But now, prosecutors want him to face the death penalty.
