LAPD

Colleen Jo Matarico, a 43-year-old special education teacher from Valley Village, Los Angeles, is accused of having sexual relations with a 13-year-old student in her car and providing him with marijuana. Officials suspect there may be additional victims, per the New York Post

According to a statement from officials, Matarico

“groomed and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old victim in her classroom, and later convinced the victim to have sexual intercourse in her vehicle.”

LAPD officials continued,

“Detectives believe there are additional, unidentified victims of Matarico who have yet to come forward.”

Matarico was identified simply as

“a teacher”

by the department, without specifying her school. However, according to the John Burroughs Middle School website, she is a teacher and her LinkedIn mentioned that

“she is a special education teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District,”

per The Post. Complaints about her began last October, says Principal Dr. Steve Martinez.

The school promptly notified the LAPD and removed the teacher from the campus, as stated by Principal Martinez.

Matarico faces five charges for lewd acts with a minor, two for acts with minors aged 14 or 15, and one for providing marijuana.
