Florida Victim Escapes After Telling Armed Man She’d Rather Die Than Comply With Sexual Assault

A Brevard County man was arrested after attempting to force a woman to perform sexual acts on him at gun point, a Florida police department has confirmed. On Friday, February 10th, a couple taking a walk in a park were stopped by a man with a handgun. The suspect, later identified as Donovan Tyler Adkins, accused them of being involved in a robbery. While pretending to be on the phone, Adkins then forced the woman to go with him off trail, and ordered the man she was with to stay put. After they went deeper into the woods, Adkins pointed his gun at the woman’s head and told her to perform sexual acts on him. According to The Miami Herald, woman refused to comply and told him that he’d have to shoot her. Adkins then began to expose himself, and the victim began screaming. “The victim’s boyfriend was quickly approaching their location in the woods which startled the suspect, causing him to trip and thereby giving the victim a brief opportunity to escape,” the Brevard Police Department explained in a statement. The man and woman quickly went to grab their belongings and leave, only to be stopped by Adkins once more. After dressing himself, the suspect had followed the couple, grabbed the woman’s cellphone, and fled the scene. Another frequent park-goer, who claimed to be “familiar with the suspect,” went to police with information, leading to the identification and arrest of Adkins later that day. The 29-year-old now faces charges of robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault with deadly weapon, false imprisonment, sexual battery, petit theft, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and resisting arrest without violence.

Florida Man Arrested After Biting Python’s Head Off During Argument With Girlfriend

On Monday, January 30th, at around 5:20 A.M., officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department responded to calls reporting a domestic dispute, Law And Crime stated. When police arrived at the apartment complex, they could hear the couple arguing, followed by a woman screaming loudly. After knocking on the door, the woman yelled out to them to “just kick the door in.” After officers forced their way into the home, they saw an adult female and adult male in the entryway. The male, later identified as Kevin Justin Mayorga, attempted to run into one of the apartment’s rooms and close the door. As police chased after him, they ordered him to stop running and put his hands up, but Mayorga initially resisted. As the officers attempted to detain Mayorga, he began swinging at them, and hit one of them in the eye with a handcuff, causing a slight abrasion. When Mayorga was detained with hand and leg restraints, the woman told police about her pet snake. According to the victim, Mayorga had grabbed her ball python and bit its head off just moments before the officers had entered their apartment. Next to the reptile enclosure, the decapitated animal was found. Mayorga has now been charged with animal cruelty with intent to kill, false imprisonment, and resisting arrest. The 32-year-old is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $15,000 bond.
