Clive Davis Receives Backlash For Hosting Extravagant Pre-Grammy Gala During Deadly L.A. Wildfires

Music legend Clive Davis‘s annual pre-Grammy gala will proceed as scheduled, even as Los Angeles faces ongoing devastating wildfires, according to Radar Online

Critics have labeled this decision as

    “tone-deaf and self-indulgent.”

While major companies like Sony, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, and BMG have canceled their Grammy-week festivities to show support for those affected and the first responders, Davis is moving forward with his event. Many have drawn parallels to the year he continued his glamorous Grammy bash following Whitney Houston’s tragic passing. In defense of his choices, Davis stated on the Larry King Show eleven years ago,

“The Grammy’s for the next night, you don’t cancel. You turn an evening into a tribute.”

Well, it seems Davis has kept his stance, even while facing significant criticism for choosing to prioritize his event over compassion.

“It feels completely out of touch,”

    a music industry insider said.

“Everyone else is stepping back, but Clive’s rolling out the red carpet for celebrities while people are losing everything.”

Although Davis has not addressed the mounting backlash, sources close to the Recording Academy are said to be frustrated by his unwillingness to adapt.

“This isn’t the time for champagne and caviar,”

    another insider said.

    “It’s a time for solidarity, not self-congratulation.”

Additionally, Davis has sidestepped questions regarding his long-standing association with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs amidst recent allegations. Sources close to Davis indicated in 2024 that Combs was

    “always on the list”

for the exclusive gala, despite the surrounding controversy. In contrast, artists like The Weeknd have garnered praise for canceling their plans out of respect for the wildfire victims. The artist chose to cancel his much-anticipated Rose Bowl concert and postpone his album release to concentrate on wildfire relief efforts.

  • Jay-Z Tells The Grammys To “Get It Close To Right” Amid His Win For The Night

Jay-Z Tells The Grammys To “Get It Close To Right” Amid His Win For The Night

Jay-Z took a dig at the organizers of the recently concluded Grammys. The Roc Nation CEO criticized their sense of choice while making a case for his wife.

Jay-Z’s Speech While Accepting The Dr. Dre’s Global Impact Award at the Grammys

Jay Z looked dapper and harmless in his two-piece sheer black suit, but on the Grammys stage, the rapper called it as it seemed. While receiving his Dr. Dre’s Global Impact Award, the rapper gave a shout to Dr. Dre, stating that he was the pacesetter.

Next, Jay-Z made a joke about how people who felt angry at the Grammys boycotted it. The rapper named Will Smith, citing his Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air days, and adding how, despite his absence, the actor watched the event. Funnily enough, Jay-Z did the same thing after his 1998 Grammy nomination. This generated laughter and applause from the audience. Next, the Roc Nation creator talked about how the Grammys have refused to let Beyoncé have the Album of the Year award.

    He goes:

“We want y’all to get it right. We love y’all, we love y’all, we just want y’all to get it right. At least get it close to right. Obviously, it’s subjective because, you know, it’s music and it’s opinion-based, but some things… I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year!”

As reported by HipHopDX, indeed, Queen Bey has the most Grammys in her possession. However, she has failed to take home the Album of the Year. The singer has been on the list four times, but it managed to slip past her. During her husband’s speech, she brightened her face with smiles while standing up to show her support. Not too far from Jay-Z was their beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy, draped in a white gown.

  • Offset and Quavo Reportedly Fought Backstage At The Grammys

Offset and Quavo Reportedly Fought Backstage At The Grammys

Apparently, Quavo and Offset got into a scuffle backstage at the Grammys, reports TMZ. The outlet is reporting  that the Grammys requested for Offset to be apart of the tribute in honor of Takeoff; however, Quavo allegedly stopped Offset from taking the stage with him in the tribute.

Sources told TMZ that Offset didn’t initiate the fight.

It is clear the untimely death of Takeoff did not reconcile Offset and Quavo’s relationship.
